The Mortal Kombat The film focused on three of Earthrealm’s fighters, the planet’s last hope against the impending invasion of the outside world. Wilson’s Sonya Blade was the only female protagonist under a predominantly male cast. The character of Sonya has been one of the original seven player characters from the start Mortal Kombat Video game, and it has been featured in some way in every iteration of the franchise since then. Born in Austin, Texas, she is a special unit of the second-generation U.S. Army that has joined forces to follow in the footsteps of her father, the well-known soldier Herman Blade.
Sonya’s capture by the Outland armies at the end of Mortal Kombat was the main incentive for Mortal Kombat II, praised by many players as the defining entry in the longstanding fighting game franchise.
Before Wilson won the role of Sonya, she actually started the teen pageant. She grew up in Gold Beach, Oregon, where she originally started competing, and eventually rose in 1990 to claim Miss Teen USA’s tiara. After that, it was only a matter of time before she got her first big chance in Hollywood.
