BLACKPINK appeared as a guest on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”
On October 20th, BLACKPINK starred on the popular American late night talk show “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” As the first K-Pop girl group to do so. In a live video chat, the group talked about their fans and their latest release “THE ALBUM”.
During the interview, Jimmy Kimmel talked about the group’s fame and whether it was difficult for them to get outside in public. Rosé and Jennie stated that going outside was not a problem as long as they were well covered and disguised. Jennie added, “It’s a big secret, but we wear hats and hoodies to cover it up.”
Rosé explained that they chose the name BLACKPINK because the two colors best represent the group. She mentioned her song “Pretty Savage” and shared, “We’re very girlish, but at the same time we’re also very wild.” When Jisoo was asked what her favorite English phrase was, she also chose: “What a shame.”
Members also talked about attending an art and performance school. Rosé noted that although she was initially excited about giving up regular subjects, she later thought it would have been nice to have learned these subjects too. She added that instead they had to learn many languages such as Korean, Japanese, English, and Chinese.
When Jennie performed at Coachella, she talked about how they enjoyed watching Coachella performances as an apprentice. Lisa mentioned that she was also very excited to see Jaden Smith and was surprised to see his father Will Smith rap on stage. Eventually, Jennie talked about how excited the group was to hear they’d be working with Cardi B on their new album.
