The Supreme Court rules in favor of Kim Hyun Joong in the legal dispute with the ex-girlfriend


The Supreme Court dismissed Kim Hyun JoongThe former girlfriend’s claim for damages and thus an end to the legal dispute that began over five years ago.

In 2014, Kim Hyun Joong’s former girlfriend “A” filed a criminal complaint against him, claiming he injured her ribs, which took six weeks to heal. The complaint was withdrawn after Kim Hyun Joong officially apologized and agreed to pay her a severance payment of 600 million won (approximately $ 538,200) on condition that they maintain confidentiality regarding the matter would. Kim Hyun Joong was also fined 5 million won (approximately $ 4,500) for assault and battery.

The following year, “A” filed another lawsuit for 1.6 billion won (approximately $ 1.4 million) in damages. His abuse led to a miscarriage and he had pressured her to have an abortion. Later that year, Kim Hyun Joong responded with a counterclaim asking for the same amount. She said she broke her agreement and provided false information. “A” gave birth to Kim Hyun Joong’s son in September 2015 and is supposed to raise the child alone.

On November 12th of that year, the Supreme Court ordered “A” Kim Hyun Joong to pay 100 million won (approximately $ 89,700) in damages and upheld the ruling from the first and second trials, in which they said: ” There is no evidence that ‘A’ miscarried due to the abuse of Kim Hyun Joong or from pressuring her to have an abortion. As a celebrity, Kim Hyun Joong’s public image has suffered badly and his reputation has been damaged. “
