“Start-Up” is a new drama in a fictional South Korean version of Silicon Valley in which young dreamers in the world of startup companies want to be successful. Suzy will appear as Seo Dal Mi, an adventurer who dreams of becoming Korea’s Steve Jobs, while Nam Joo Hyuk will play the role of Samsan Tech founder Nam Do San.
In the newly released stills from the drama, the visibly worn Seo Dal Mi and Nam Do San form a relatable duo when they take the subway separately. Although Seo Dal Mi is always relentlessly confident and positive in front of her work colleagues – and even in front of her older sister Won In Jae (played by Kang Han Na) whose life couldn’t be more different than Seo Dal Mi’s after becoming a chaebol heir – she can’t hide her exhaustion as she clings to a pole in the subway.
Meanwhile, Nam Do San keeps his eyes on the ground as a clumsy loner whose self-esteem has hit rock bottom. While in high school, the brilliant Nam Do San was a math genius who received the attention of becoming the youngest ever winner of a math Olympiad. Since then, he has lost his self-confidence and now cannot even look other people in the eye.
However, the producers of “Start-Up” announced that hope for these two characters is not lost. In fact, Seo Dal Mi Nam Do San will inspire a decision to return to his former glory so that he can shine bright again.
The producers of the drama commented: “Seo Dal Mi and Nam Do San are representatives of today’s youth who can shine bright again at any time in the future. Please look forward to seeing the changes that will come for these two very different people when they meet. “
“Start-Up” will premiere on October 17th at 9 pm. KST.
