Sunmi opens the diagnosis of borderline personality disorder

In the aftermath of Mnet’s “Running Girls” on December 16, the cast continued to open up about their lives, careers and concerns.

“Running Girls” stars Chungha, Sunmi, EXIDs Hani, LOONAs Chuu and Oh My Girls YooA on a reality show about forming a “running crew” and finding beautiful natural running courses in Korea.

At the beginning of the episode, Sunmi and Hani discussed their friendship. Hani said, “To be honest, I felt like I should be careful with you. You have more experience than me. What I mean by “being careful” is that I wanted to listen to you more, wanted to get to know you more, and was curious about you. “

Hani added, “We crossed a lot, but there was no real opportunity for us to get closer. We didn’t talk much, but we kept in touch.” Sunmi said, “Hee Yeon [Hani’s real name] I felt like someone I could be friends with anywhere, anytime. “

At another point in the episode, Sunmi shared some comforting and advice to Chuu who had confessed that she could not take care of the other members. Sunmi said, “I think you feel the same pressure as you used to. You have to dig really deep to find out what you like. You have to dig deep to find the thing that gives you confidence.”

Sunmi continued, “Chuu reminds me so much of myself when I made my debut. I felt like I couldn’t do anything, I wasn’t helping the group. I lived like that until one day I realized I was wearing myself out. I think Chuu feels the same way it did then. “

Later that night, Sunmi opened a diagnosis of borderline personality disorder.

“It’s important that you take time out when you’re having trouble,” she said. “I left Wonder Girls to take some time off. At that time, I was more concerned with mental than physical illness. I made my debut as a solo artist, advertised with Wonder Girls again, left the agency and had plenty of time to think about myself. But that time began to consume me. “

She continued, “About five years ago I was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. That had tormented me so much. It was such a relief. After I was diagnosed, I got treatment and medication, and it got better. You need to take care of these basics so that the people around you can be comfortable too. I’ve learned that borderline personality disorders are often difficult for the people around you. I want the people around me to be happy and not get hurt because of me. I want to love her, but that also comes from something in me that wants to be loved for it. “

She continued, “I made my debut at such an early stage in my life. I started out in society too young. We were supposed to develop the “self” in our teenage years, but I spent most of my time in a car. I think it is important to think about yourself, learn what you like and what you are good at, in order to learn how to deal with your feelings. I understand that now. The medicine I take has been greatly reduced so you don’t have to worry. I’m very strong. I got stronger “

Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is a mental illness in which people have difficulty regulating or managing their emotions, self-image, and behavior. Sunmi wrote an English song called “Borderline” about her experience with the disorder in August.
