On September 6th, STAYC organized an online showcase for the release of their first mini-album “STEREOTYPE”.
At the showcase, the girl group talked about how their previous comeback “ASAP” sparked their popularity around the world. Seeun said, “We were proud to have received more love than we expected. Thanks to everyone’s love, we were able to work hard on the promotion. We also want to show a good image with our ‘STEREOTYPE’ campaigns. “
Sumin said, “Our last single albums have focused on who STAYC was and what we were good at, while this first mini-album has social messages and themes.”
The title track “STEREOTYPE” shows STAYC’s unique “high teen” energy and elegance. It was the first track made for the group when they set their debut lineup. Seeun said, “This is a song we received when we were selected for the debut lineup. It felt too bad to keep it to ourselves and we wanted to share it with the fans asap. It is very meaningful to us to publish it now, and having practiced it for so long, we trust it.
Yoon added, “Our producer Black Eyed Pilseung directed the song to let our own colors show through. I think the pitch in ‘STEREOTYPE’ came out really well. ”J added,“ We tried a lot of different things in our signature sound. My role was one that everyone recorded, but I was lucky enough to be selected. “
Yoon said, “The key point for ‘STEREOTYPE’ is ‘repent’. That is why our makeup is different on our right and left side. One side shows the striking exterior, one side shows the pure interior. “
Regarding her reputation as representatives of fourth generation girls’ groups, Sieun said: “We are grateful that we are called that. It gives us a sense of the pressure to work to live up to that name, but it’s a happy pressure. We want to grow as STAYC to meet the expectations of our fans. “Sieun added that the group’s goals were to win the Rookie Award at the end of the year awards ceremony and become number 1 on a music show.”
