Given Riordan’s enthusiasm for the streaming iteration of his Magnum opus, we can assume that TV producers plan to get much closer to his original plot than the films. The novels follow Perseus “Percy” Jackson, a young demigod who was created by the Greek sea god Poseidon. Percy was brought up by his human mother, and the revelation of his divine parentage sets the series’ main conflict in motion.
The book series includes five novels and two accompanying books, The demi-god files and The demigod diaries. The first novel with subtitles The Lightning Thief, was released in 2005 and immediately became a bestseller. It followed The sea of monsters, The curse of the titan, The battle of the labyrinth, and The last Olympian. The first film attempt to adapt the series loosely translated the events of the first novel, while the 2013 sequel seemed to mix elements from the second and fifth books.
The new series for Disney + can be one game of Thrones-similar approach by adjusting approximately one book per season, or trying to combine all five novels into a single limited series event. We just have to wait and see.
We will keep you posted as soon as Disney releases more information.
