Melon has released an official response to the news that the Melon Music Awards (MMA) will not be held this year.
Every year between November and December, the music platform usually hosts MMA, a music award ceremony. However, there are reports that the ceremony won’t take place this year due to the ongoing COVID-19, especially since the country is currently implementing level 2.5 social distancing rules.
An industry representative commented, “Since July, Melon seems to have decided not to host MMA this year.” Another source said, “To hold the awards show from late November to early December, you would have been dealing with things like that Need to deal with lineup and schedule, but they haven’t taken action yet. [That means] MMA has decided to take a break this year due to COVID-19 without switching to an online ceremony. “
In response, a source from Kakao, the Melon company, said, “MMA is going to take place this year and we are looking at various aspects based on the external factors. We will announce the date and agreement as soon as they are confirmed. “
