“Mr. Queen” is a historical fantasy comedy-drama about a man from modern times whose soul is trapped in the body of a queen from the Joseon Dynasty. Shin Hye Sun plays Kim So Yong, the Joseon Queen with the soul of Chef of the Blue House, Jang Bong Hwan, who is trapped in her, Kim Jung Hyun plays her husband King Cheoljong, who is outwardly a weak and ineffective king, but appears stronger and sharper than him.
Previously, Kim So Yong tried to adapt to the palace, even though she was actually a free-spirited man from modern times. She proposed a “no-contact” rule to the king, and just as they were making themselves comfortable only to appear as a couple in public, Kim So Yong crept out of the palace disguised as a man. She met King Cheoljong disguised as someone else, and the audience is excited to see whether she will recognize him or not.
In the new stills, Kim So Yong and King Cheoljong have a tense encounter. Cheoljong points his sword at her and his piercing gaze studies her nervous expression. Kim So Yong is nervous, but she avoids eye contact and doesn’t dare to provoke him. King Cheoljong suspects she followed him, but Kim So Yong is just concerned that people might find out she snuck out of the palace.
Another series of stills shows Kim So Yong wielding her flawless cooking skills. Queens don’t usually appear in the royal kitchen and the servants get frantic when she shows up out of the blue. Kim So Yong pulls up her sleeves and uses her experience as a cook in the modern world to create an excellent dish. Your royal subjects can’t help but stare at them in awe. Her expression is full of determination and confidence and she grins as if she was waiting for this moment.
