JYP Entertainment has released a statement with an update on legal action against malicious comments TWICE.
Hello. This is JYP Entertainment.
Our company has announced several legal actions against problems that could cause direct and indirect damage to the members of TWICE, the artists of JYP Entertainment, e.g. B. spreading false rumors and publishing malicious slander. All possible legal action against these issues is carried out by a professional law firm.
In relation to this, we can inform you that three people, A, B, and C, who posted malicious slander and spread false rumors, have been fined 3 million won, 3 million won and 5 million won, respectively, for violating the Law to promote the use and protection of information and communication networks (defamation). Among these individuals, A was put on trial for violating the same law last year and repeatedly posted malicious posts thereafter. As a result, A was fined earlier this year.
Taking into account all of the above, we announce that we have continued to investigate and take legal action at the highest level, including civil proceedings, in all cases where criminal prosecution and indictment are pending. To this end, we monitor all processes internally and systematize the collection of evidence in cooperation with a professional law firm.
All actions can critically damage one’s own rights, including the personal rights of artists and their mental health. We are aware that there have been much more casualties recently as a result of these actions and we are extremely concerned about how serious this is.
For the healthy promotion of our artists and the protection of their mental health, we will therefore by no means be idle. We reiterate our desire to show absolutely no forbearance as we continue to expand legal action.
We ask for active reports from the fans. We also ask for your caution so as not to cause unnecessary damage due to these cases.
Thank you very much.
JYP Entertainment last announced that they would take legal action on behalf of TWICE in early June.
