On July 23, the cast and crew of “Steel Rain 2: Summit” (literal title) hosted a media preview before the premiere of their film.
“Steel Rain 2: Summit” is the sequel to the film “Steel Rain”. Steel Rain 2 is about a crisis that occurred just before a war when the three leaders of the Korea-US summit were kidnapped in a North Korean nuclear submarine. The two films are not directly related and the returning actors play different roles than the first film.
Jung woo sung plays the South Korean president, Yoo Yeon Seok plays the North Korean chairman and Kwak Do Won plays the director of the North Korean guards behind the kidnapping of the three leaders. Scottish actor Angus Macfadyen plays the US president.
Director Yang Woo Seok said: “North Korean relations and North Korean nuclear policy remain a serious problem for South Koreans. The Cold War system that used to surround us has collapsed, but we are now involved in the conflict between the United States and China. I wanted these films to show possible simulations of what could happen in our situation. “
Jung Woo Sung said he was constipated while watching the film. “I felt so much emotion that my thoughts went blank,” he said. “I think our people have suffered so much misfortune. I felt that when I saw the film. I wish our people could soon find their way to new hope and peace. “
Director Yang Woo Seok said, “I think there are four future paths for the Korean Peninsula. The first is war. The second is denuclearization through negotiations. The third is the collapse of the North Korean regime. The fourth is South Korea’s nuclear armament. I thought about showing these possible scenarios in the “Steel Rain” films. Both “Steel Rain” and “Steel Rain 2” are about war and nuclear weapons, but I wanted to show that despite all of this, we have to move to a peaceful system. “
“Steel Rain 2: Summit” premiered in South Korea on July 29.
