Exclusive: Leading actor from "Missing: The Other Side" about acting in fantasy thrillers, mood on set and more

If you are sad that OCNMissing: The other side“It’s already over, we have something for you!

“Missing: The Other Side” is a mystery fantasy drama about a conman named Kim Wook (Go soo) who stumbles upon a village home to the souls of the dead who disappeared while they were alive. He teams up with a mysterious guardian (Heo Joon Ho) to uncover the dark secrets of the village and calm the souls of the missing. A member of Kim Wook’s team, Lee Jong Ah (Ahn So Hee) Is a civil servant during the day and a brilliant hacker at night.

Go Soo, Ahn So Hee and Heo Joon answered some of Viki and Soompi’s questions, what it felt like to act, work together, their personal preferences and much more in “Missing: The Other Side”. Read on to find out what they said!

What was the hardest part about playing your part? Was there anything that you needed to pay special attention to while acting?

Go Soo: The character Kim Wook has the special ability to see souls. It was harder than I thought to show the process by which he accepts that what he sees in front of him are souls and not things that physically exist. Kim Wook meets different people and is at the center of these characters, so I thought his communication with and reactions to these characters were important. So while I was acting, I focused on my reactions to the other characters. I had to react to each character’s story so you could see Kim Wook’s humane side.

Ahn So Hee: There isn’t a lot of information about hacking so I looked for shows about hacking or videos and lectures about it to investigate my role as a hacker. Jong Ah is good at games as well as using the computer. There’s a scene in which she plays PlayerUnknown’s battlefields in an internet cafe. So I went to a nearby internet cafe to practice and look for videos of players.

Heo Joon Ho: Because I talk to and deal with souls that I have never seen or experienced before, every scene is difficult. I rely entirely on the writer’s script and the director’s direction to create the scenes. I was very concerned about whether I would be able to build compassion with the audience.

When were you proudest while filming?

Go Soo: I am proud when the rotating set works well. When the set is fun and fun, and when I focus on my character in every scene, I sometimes feel like I’m “riding” the role. Not only the actors, but also the staff collect positive energy. Over time, we trust and rely on each other more so that the shooting and post-production become even better than I imagined. That makes me proud.

Ahn So Hee: Whenever someone tells me that when she shows up, Jong Ah makes the set brighter and fresher both in front of and off camera, I am grateful and proud.

Heo Joon Ho: Since I’m an actor, I get a clear “okay” sign [from the director] on the set. This also applies to this drama.

Is there anything new you learned about your co-stars while working with them?

Go Soo: It’s nothing new that I’ve learned, but all of us who have different values have come together and create synergies. It is through this project that I meet a lot of actors like Song Geon Hee, Seo Eun Soo and Ha Joon for the first time. At first they may have felt uncomfortable because I’m a senior in acting, but now they are comfortable approaching me and they like me, so I like that.

Ahn So Hee: Once again I felt that when Go Soo approaches acting or thinks of others, he is very sensitive and considerate.

Heo Joon Ho: It’s a great honor to have met all of the actors in “Missing”. Everyone is so nice and hard-working that I go to the location in a good mood every day.

What other role in the drama would you like to try?

Go Soo: I want to try to play the role of the cafe owner. As the line in a poem goes, “Love means having time for someone,” I want to be a cafe owner like Thomas Cha, who gives people a comfortable space and saves my time for them.

Ahn So Hee: I want to try out the role of a cheater because it allows me to experience different types of jobs and show my many sides.

Heo Joon Ho: I like my character Jang Pan Seok the most. I don’t want any other role.

If the ability to see souls existed, would you want it or would you pretend it doesn’t exist?

Go Soo: Imagine if it didn’t exist.

Ahn So Hee: Imagine if it didn’t exist.

Heo Joon Ho: I dont know.

If you could change the past, would you change it or not?

Go Soo: I wouldn’t change it.

Ahn So Hee: I would change it.

Heo Joon Ho: I wouldn’t change it.

Latte versus Americano

Go Soo: Americano.

Ahn So Hee: Americano.

Heo Joon Ho: That is a difficult question …

What’s your favorite English word?

Go Soo: Air.

Ahn So Hee: Love.

Heo Joon Ho: Jesus.

Where would you like to travel?

Go Soo: Taiwan.

Ahn So Hee: New York.

Heo Joon Ho: The situation is not good now, so I cannot imagine a place. Haha.

Please share a message to the global fans of the drama!

Go Soo: The many actors and staff in our drama came together and worked hard on it. Hope you find comfort and laughter from the drama and relax while enjoying it. Thank you very much.

Ahn So Hee: I look forward to finally welcoming you with a new drama, and I look forward to being part of a project that will bring smiles and warmth to viewers at a difficult time. Please enjoy it comfortably.

Heo Joon Ho: Watch your health. I think the coronavirus will go away soon. If you are bored at home, please make time for “Missing”. It will be fun. ^^
