Cho Seung Youn (WOODZ) made his long awaited solo comeback!
On June 29, Cho Seung Youn hosted an online showcase for the release of his first mini-album “EQUAL” and the title “Love Me Harder”. He discussed his thoughts about his new album, his identity as Cho Seung Youn and WOODZ and much more.
First Cho Seung told Youn how he felt when he released his first album as a solo artist WOODZ. He said, “I’m very nervous and looking forward to it. I’m excited to see how people will react.”
Cho Seung Youn mentioned that he focused on everything from the music to the visual aspects of his album. “My bond with the album is on a different level,” he said. “I went to great lengths so I hope everyone likes it and I would be grateful if people discovered a new side of me.”
Cho Seung Youn then spoke about the confusion between his names “Cho Seung Youn” and “WOODZ”. He said: “Even my fans were confused about my two identities, and I was too. This album made it clear to me that both names are me, so I titled my album ‘EQUAL’ to show that both Cho Seung Youn and WOODZ are myself. ”
He also revealed his thoughts on the versions “EARTH” and “COSMIC” of his album. The “EARTH” version shows him a softer side, while the “COSMIC” version shows his charisma. He said: “It was difficult to hold both sides of me in one version. I thought a lot about what to do and my album started with the idea that both WOODZ and Cho Seung Youn represent me. I have fulfilled my wish to show which side I have of myself, regardless of who I have become. “
Cho Seung Youn went on his stage name “WOODZ”. He said: “I was worried about what to call myself before I started again, and I chose” WOODZ “because it represents my values.”
He continued: “WOODZ” means that my roots are heavy and my branches are light. My heart is also heavy and my thoughts are light. I chose the name because I want to grow stronger and nobler like a tree over time. “
Then Cho Seung Youn compared his latest album with his previous one. He said: “I used to make music that I liked and that could satisfy me, but now my goal is to make music that everyone likes. I’m working hard on it. “
He added: “My dream is to become an artist that people of all ages will like. I want to be a singer who grows stronger and grows over time. “
Cho Seung Youn then discussed his title track “Love Me Harder”. He said: “Love is usually red, but I wanted to talk about a kind of love that is unusually blue. The color blue symbolizes the love between my fans and me, so it also has this meaning. “
Most recently, Cho Seung Youn shared his goals for his new album. “While I was making music, I never had rank-related goals,” he revealed. “I think I worked on my album to present the music to the audience, and while I was working on this album, I felt that so many people gave me a lot of love.”
He concluded: “I try my best because I want to get better results through hard work, and I want my fans to hear the words” I know him “when they talk about me.”
