BTS‘s “Butter” has continued to rule Billboard’s Hot 100!
On August 2, local time, Billboard officially announced that BTS ‘hit single “Butter” had stayed at number 1 on the famous Hot 100 charts – the weekly ranking of the most popular songs in the US – for the ninth year in a row.
It is noteworthy that the impressive nine-week run of “Butter” was only interrupted for one week by BTS ‘own song “Permission to Dance”, which means that BTS has now topped the Hot 100 for 10 weeks in a row.
With this latest achievement, “Butter” has now overtaken the Hot 100 record from Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License” for the longest running No. 1 hit of 2021. (“Drivers License” was at the top of the charts for eight weeks from January to January this year.)
“Butter” also successfully remained the best-selling song of the week. According to MRC Data (formerly Nielsen Music), the song garnered 30.5 million radio airplay viewer impressions, 8.1 million streams and 112,900 downloads, meaning it was # 1 on Billboard’s digital song sales chart for the ninth time occupied consecutive week.
In addition, “Butter” stayed at number 21 on the Billboard radio songs chart and was number 44 on the streaming songs chart for the week that ended August 7th.
Meanwhile, “Permission to Dance” continued to do well on the Billboard charts. In addition to being at number 9 on the Hot 100, the song successfully maintained its position at number 2 on the Digital Song Sales Charts this week.
