Baskin-Robbins has announced it will take legal action in response to the leak BTSUnpublished advertising.
On July 17, Baskin-Robbins Korea posted an official statement on its Twitter account after BTS’s upcoming commercial for the brand leaked online.
The company’s full statement read:
We make an announcement to the many people who are looking forward to seeing Baskin-Robbins and BTS together. The commercial video that is currently being distributed on social media is not the final cut, and it is an unfinished video. The individual spread [the video] may be held legally responsible, and we hope you will not distribute or share it until the official video is released.
However, the announcement was criticized by a number of BTS fans who complained that the statement appeared to be directed at fans, although there was no evidence that it was a fan who leaked the commercial. Shortly thereafter, Baskin-Robbins Korea deleted the tweet.
Earlier this month, Baskin-Robbins officially announced that BTS had been selected as the brand’s newest spoke model, and said: “BTS will promote our new ice cream, which will be released through videos and photo shoots next month. We’ll post the commercials on TV and social media next month. “
