In a recent interview, TREASURE’s Bang Ye Dam shared his thoughts on debut after seven long years of training!
Bang Ye Dam first came to YG Entertainment as a trainee in 2013 after winning second place in the SBS audition program “K-Pop Star 2”. Seven years later he finally made his debut as a member of the agency’s new boy band TREASURE.
Bang Ye Dam reflected on his time as an apprentice: “I came to the agency as an apprentice after ‘K-Pop Star 2’ and have been through a lot over the years, but I was able to further strengthen my basic knowledge [during that time]. ”
Although he was already famous when he joined the agency, Bang Ye Dam said, “During my internship, I went through exactly the same training process as all the other members.”
He also humbly remarked, “Although I trained for a long time, it wasn’t just me: All members took a long time to prepare. So we could improve and grow, and all members could prepare things that were outside of their main focus [such as vocals, dance, or rap]. ”
“All of the members, including myself, have improved a lot,” he continued, “and I think we all probably feel proud when we see how much each other has grown. I think that all members were occupied [by the agency] because they showed potential and we then trained together. “
Before making his TREASURE debut earlier this month, Bang Ye Dam kicked off his career with the release of the solo single “WAYO”. He spoke lovingly about the song and said, “I was happy to be able to release a solo song as part of the TREASURE project before my debut.”
Immediately after TREASURE’s debut with their first single album “THE FIRST STEP: CHAPTER ONE” on August 7th, their title track “BOY” shot to the top of the iTunes charts in several countries around the world, and their music video for the song did also collected views at an impressive rate.
