Apink's Hayoung shares her and others, including Jihyo, Mina, and Kim Sejeong, who have left the soccer team

ApinkHayoung announced that she and other celebrities have decided to leave the FC Rumor soccer team.

In July, Hayoung and Gugudan‘S Kim Sejeong published on their social media accounts about joining a new purely professional football club called “FC Rumor”. A photo of the team in their uniforms only showed their backs, but it revealed the names of celebrities, including Gugudans Nayoung, BESTies Uji, TWICEJihyo and Mina, Jeonghwa from EXID and actress Kim Sae Ron.

Soon thereafter, rumors spread that the club was affiliated with an all-male celebrity soccer team, also known as “FC Rumor”. Some malicious commentators spread rumors that the two football clubs were just an excuse for these male and female celebrities to meet and keep up to date.

Hayoung and Kim Sejeong both refuted the rumors on social media. The club also made it clear that despite the same name, the female and male teams were separate, with the male team playing for football and the female team playing futsal.

On Aug. 11, Hayoung spoke to fans on a V Live broadcast after an article about the team was posted that day.

“I came on V Live to tell you this,” she said. “I left the soccer team after my birthday. Several others have also left, including Jihyo and Mina. “

She continued: “We didn’t leave because there was a misunderstanding, we left because the fans might be misunderstood or upset because of the group, and because people around us were hurt because of speculation.”

“We had really good intentions about the hobby, but if people don’t see it the way they intended, there’s no point doing it,” said Hayoung. She said she saw fans post things like, “I wish Hayoung unni would leave it “(the term”unni”Used by women towards older friends or sisters).

“I realized that while I have a clear conscience, people may not see it that way,” she said. “I left because I wanted to end the problem.” She added that it has been a while since she retired from the team and said she left as soon as the controversy took place.

Hayoung said that, to clear the misunderstanding, she intended to share footage they had taken during their joint activities. However, she decided that one more attempt to explain things might do more harm to the non-celebrity members of the team.

“Those of us whose names were mentioned, like me, Sejeong and others, all went together,” she said. “Because we didn’t want to cause any damage.”

Hayoung continued, “We said to ourselves that if we really want to, we can safely rent a futsal venue or take a class without telling anyone else. So we decided to make sure the fans don’t misunderstand this. That’s why we left. “

“I didn’t want there to be a fan or two worried,” she commented. When some fans apologized, Hayoung said, “Why are you sorry? It’s okay!”

“For the past 10 years I’ve worked hard to maintain my image and make sure I don’t worry the fans,” she said. “In the end, however, I thought for the first time that I had inadvertently led to misunderstandings.” She went on to say that she didn’t want to worry the fans and said: “Even if I didn’t worry you, it would be angry as a fan if the name of your singer was mentioned negatively.”
