The summer heat is burning all over Korea and everywhere else, but if there’s one thing that has brought something fresh and cool this season, it’s the joint project group SSAK3, made up of rain, Lee Hyori, and Yoo Jae Suk. It’s rare to have a unique collaboration like this, and it must have taken a lot of work to bring these famous Korean celebrities together, but that’s one thing that makes this group special. They recently ended their summer promotions and unfortunately we’re not even sure when we’ll see them all together again. Here are other reasons why SSAK3 is arguably the best project group:
The members are legendary and have been nicknamed “Nation”
Yoo Jae Suk a.k.a. Yoo Dragon
There’s a reason Yoo Jae Suk is considered the “Nation’s MC”. He has been in the entertainment industry for decades and has established himself as a comedian and presenter after years of struggle. He is known for his quick wit, great personality, and diverse network of celebrity friends. He is one of the highest paid television personalities in Korea and the most sought after endorser due to his positive image. But it’s certainly not just about his image in front of the camera. Outside the camera, people can see his kind heart through his many philanthropic endeavors and donations.
Lee Hyori a.k.a. Linda G.
Lee Hyori speaks of long years in the industry and is known as “Nation’s Fairy” for its undisputed charm and appeal to people of all ages. Due to her immense popularity, she became the highest paid singer in Korea even after years of hiatus. She is the definition of duality when it comes to having both a sexy pop star image and a relatable, down to earth, natural image. unni Personality. People just love her with or without makeup and fancy styling, and she’s had top singles for four decades in a row!
Rain a.k.a. B-ryong
Not only does Rain have the title “Nation” or “OG K-Pop Star”, but because his fame extends beyond Korea, he has also been named “World Star”. He is considered one of the pioneers of hallyu, after releasing bestselling albums and starring in hit K-Drama and Hollywood films. Much like Lee Hyori and Yoo Jae Suk, he’s as real as possible. Many friends and co-workers often praise him for his considerate and humble personality, as he treats everyone with respect and usually acts like he’s not a big star. No wonder Kim Tae Hee fell head over heels for him!
They are all role models
Aside from the accomplishments listed above, the trio often sets a good example for their fans by staying true to themselves. They are individuals who started from below and have achieved great success through hard work, persistence and humility. What is even more incredible is that they are willing to do good to the world by supporting various causes that benefit many people and, in the case of Lee Hyori, animals. She is a great advocate of dog rescue and the fight against cruelty to animals.
Rain has also been an advocate of many causes, particularly environmental protection, HIV / AIDS prevention and the fight against human trafficking in Asia, which he supports by donating proceeds from his concerts. Yoo Jae Suk donated feminine hygiene products to 500 low-income teenagers through 49 local children’s centers across the country. He has always helped those in need, including low-income single mothers and people at risk from the COVID-19 outbreak.
They brought the old school back
As K-pop groups and fans get younger, the presence of SSAK3 has become a refresher in the golden age of K-pop. They make us appreciate a mix of music and fashion styles from the past that may be trending now too. Whether you’re young or young at heart, you’ll love their upbeat and positive sound – just what we need on those often gloomy days.
They are super fun and entertaining when they are together
When real personalities meet and interact, there is of course chaos! They treat each other like siblings, and as a result, they often tease and bully each other on the surface. Jokes aside, they care about each other and share a deep bond that is beyond entertainment.
They provide inspiration for fans and the next generation of K-pop stars
All of them often give good advice to their juniors and share their real insights from their experience in showbiz and practical tips on how to navigate this difficult but exciting industry. Through their shows, they also inform viewers about valuable lessons in life.
“Instead of my know-how or skills, I’ll try my best to make this program a beautiful one by being a producer who cares about the mental state of the participants,” said Rain of becoming a mentor for the K-Pop Idol Competition Show “I-LAND. ”
While visiting the JTBC Newsroom, Lee Hyori said, “It wasn’t as competitive then as it is now. In my case, I was the last member to join the team so I only trained for a month before I made my debut. “She added,” I see that too much – basically everything – about their lives is publicly available for girls’ groups these days. In our day, social media wasn’t very common so I feel like that we had more freedom. “
On another show, advising a young girl she met not to be pressured to always be the best, she said, “Why should she be a brilliant person? Be whoever you want to be. “
During an interview with a coronavirus health worker in Daegu, Yoo Jae Suk couldn’t help but tear himself apart when he heard about her experience. The health workers stayed calm and showed their determination by saying everything will be fine. Yoo Jae Suk said, “You keep saying that you are fine, but my heart aches so I’m crying. I didn’t know I was going to cry, but the tears don’t stop.” At the end of the call, Yoo Jae pointed Suk his heart of gold and said, “I want to express my indescribable gratitude and respect for those who strive to treat patients when something happens.”
