Today we’re celebrating a major milestone – actors who have been in the industry for 20 years. These actors started out about 20 years ago, be it through drama, commercials or film, and all of them have worked diligently to this day. They all have outstanding filmographies and have starred in some of the biggest hits in K-Dramaland. What is more impressive is that all these years later they are still big names and continue to produce works that are critically and / or commercially successful.
Here are six actors – in no particular order – celebrating this major milestone this year, and two of their previous and recent hits:
“Ladder to heaven”(2003-2004)
Kwon Sang Woo made his drama debut in 2001 with “Delicious Proposal”. Two years later he became famous after starring as Cha Song Joo in the hit melodrama “Stairway to Heaven” Choi Ji Woo and Kim Tae Hee (which also appears on this list). This is probably the most famous drama in Kwon Sang Woo’s filmography, and for good reason. “Stairway to Heaven” was part of the epic Hallyu wave of that time and has profoundly influenced the K-Dramaland and made room for all the tear-jerking, amnesia-involving, epic love story dramas to come.
Watch “Stairway to Heaven”:
This SBS drama, which is currently on the air, is based on the true stories of a lawyer-journalist duo who have successfully received retrial against wrongly convicted men. Kwon Sang Woo plays Park Tae Yong, a public defender who became a lawyer with just a high school diploma. He has a low social background himself and ensures that those who are ill-treated or subjected to malicious persecution are defended. He hides his insecurities with confidence and bravery and uses these qualities to fight the system. Next to him is Park Sam Soo, a reporter who has a knack for writing articles that can move his readers deeply.

Kim Tae Hee
Kim Tae Hee became very popular after “Stairway to Heaven”, but it wasn’t until “IRIS” that she won her first acting award. This elegant action thriller stars alongside the popular Kim Tae Hee Lee Byun Hun. She is the expert who recruits him, the elite soldier. “IRIS” had both major critical and rating successes during its run and still has a large following today. Just play “Don’t Forget” by Baek Ji Young and you will win out all “IRIS” fans.

“Hello bye, mom” (2020)
Kim Tae Hee’s latest drama is most likely going to have you screaming your eyes out with its heartfelt themes of family and sacrifice while also weaving together some easier moments to keep you from getting too dehydrated. Kim Tae Hee is absolutely wonderful (and I dare to say even more nuanced than before) as Cha Yu Ri, a mother who dies not long after giving birth to her daughter. Five years later, she was given the chance to return to the world of the living, where she tries to reunite with her husband and daughter.
Yoo Seung Ho is only 27 years old and still is on a list celebrating 20 years in the industry! The very talented young man started out with advertising before moving onto both the big and small screens. As a child actor, of course, his earlier roles often played the child versions of the male lead. In 2015, after completing his military duties, he starred alongside in the lively “Remember” Park Min Young. Yoo Seung Ho played Seo Jin Woo who happens to be suffering from hyperthymesis, a condition that resembles a perfect memory. He played the role so well – he captured all of the desperation and devastation of losing his father to Alzheimer’s – that he received multiple awards and nominations.

Yoo Seung Ho plays Dong Baek, a police officer with the supernatural ability to read his mind in this thriller of a drama. “Memorist” is an intense and winding ride in which the good guys track down this one murderer in one second and the murderer himself is murdered in the next second. The action and plot will keep you on the edge of your seat and you will gasp for air along with the characters as the spins unfold. The very enjoyable cast is the cherry on top of this very fun ride.
After serving in film and theater for over a decade, Cho Seung Woo made his much-anticipated small screen debut with “King’s Doctor,” which he won Daesang (Grand Prize) for his performance. This is a historical drama that takes a fascinating look at a humble veterinarian working his way up to become a royal doctor. It’s full of beauty, history, and culture, all delivered by a great cast.

“Forest of Secrets 2” (2020)
Cho Seung Woo doesn’t actually have many television roles, but the few he’s done have always been critical hits. This includes the partially medical, partially political drama “Leben” from 2018 and the two seasons of “Forest of Secrets”. The recently completed second season takes place two years after the events of the (great) first season, in which a power struggle breaks out between the prosecutor and the national police. Despite the ongoing conflict between their respective agencies, Hwang Si Mok (Cho Seung Woo) and Han Yeo Jin (Bae Doona) Continue to choose to be partners in crime when it comes to exposing crime and corruption.
“To kill a love”(2005)
Shin Min Ah was featured in many cult favorites, including “My girlfriend is a gumiho” and “Arang and the magistrate“But one of her earlier hits is the melodrama” A Love to Kill “. rain plays Kang Bok Gu, a veteran fighter who decides to take revenge on his brother’s ex-girlfriend, Cha Eun Suk (Shin Min Ah), after the brother tries to die by suicide. He becomes Cha Eun Suk’s bodyguard (she is a young actress) and woos her just like his brother did before. However, when the two actually develop feelings for each other, things get a little too complicated. This is the kind of soap drama that is reminiscent of that time and really sheds light on the dramatic blows of Rain and Shin Min Ah.

“Chief of Staff” (2019)
After Shin Min Ah appeared in successive rom-coms, she traded her bubbly image for a more intense one for her latest drama, “Chief of Staff,” a political thriller that plunges into the gray world of politics. The focus is on politicians and their committed helpers, including Jang Tae Joon (Lee Jung Jae) Who becomes a politician after realizing how corrupt the judicial system is. However, after embarking on his own political journey, he faces the dilemma that he cannot always keep his hands clean if he is to achieve his goals. Then we have Kang Seon Yeon (Shin Min Ah), a lawyer turned congregation woman who is in the opposing party but has personal ties with Jang Tae Joon. This is a thought-provoking thriller with lots of intrigue and suspense, supported by a great cast. There are now two seasons (both broadcast in 2019), each consisting of 10 episodes.
“My name is Kim Sam Soon”(2005)
Fun Fact: Jung Ryeo Won actually made her debut as a singer in a 00s girl group called “Chakra”. After the group broke up a few years later, she switched to a full-time actress, where her breakthrough came with the hugely popular “My Name Is Kim Sam Soon”. Jung Ryeo Won plays Yoo Hee Jin, ex-girlfriend of Hyun BinHyun Jin Heon. And even though she’s not the female lead (Kim Sun Ah Stars like the title Kim Sam Soon), she still leaves the impression that first love, which is only to blame, is trying to revive their failed relationship.

“War of the prosecutors”(2019-2020)
“War of Prosecutors” is a charming drama that focuses on a team of ordinary prosecutors dealing with average, less conspicuous cases. Unlike other legal drama, the mediocrity gives this drama a more informed, livelier feel, and leaves more time to really develop the characters and build their relationships. Jung Ryeo Won plays Cha Myung Joo, a prosecutor who made a name for herself in Seoul before she was suddenly transferred to a quiet district office. Her more intensive work style contradicts that of Lee Sun Woong (Lee Sun Gyun) relaxed approach that creates a confrontational relationship between the two.
