Not all idols who want to act get the chance to do so, nor are they always good. And that’s perfectly fine because they can already sing, dance and rap. It almost wouldn’t be fair if they were talented too! But in the past year there were quite a number of idol actors who really gave everything in their respective roles and showed that they are all-rounders. Here are 12 idol actors (in no particular order) who gave appearances that can be considered the best of the year.
Disclaimer: This list does not include December 2020 dramas.
WINNER’s Kang Seung Yoon made his drama debut on the sitcom “High Kick 3”, but it wasn’t until Jean Valjean was featured on “Prison Playbook” that he was hailed for his acting technique. This year, Kang Seung Yoon was able to show his art again through the role of In Gun Wook in “Kairos. “In this particular role, viewers were pleasantly surprised to see how Kang Seung Yoon truly displayed the despair and baggage his character had to carry throughout his life. Kang Seung Yoon takes on some challenging roles and proves himself a capable actor!

Over the past year he has had the privilege of working with seasoned actors Yoo Ji Tae and Lee Bo Young in romance “When my love blooms. ”He played Han Jae Hyun, the younger version of Yoo Ji Tae’s character.
The best thing about Jinyoung in this role was his gentle looks and romantic expression, as well as his intense personality, which made his acting so versatile and entertaining. Jinyoung has proven that with every role he takes on, he is not only a talented idol but also an accomplished actor.

Krystal starred in the OCN military drama “search“And her role as Son Ye Rim really stepped her out of the traditional roles she’d played in the past. Son Ye Rim is strong, defiant, intelligent, and not afraid to kick the ass, which is Krystal’s Series portrayed so perfectly.

Seohyun of Girls’ Generation has a solid list of K-dramas she starred in during her career as a K-pop idol and actress. Last year she starred in JTBC’s “Private Lives” as the daughter of a family of cheaters. The role was a stark contrast to the roles she has played in the past. Cha Joo Eun in “Private Lives” is a bad girl who is not afraid of getting what she wants, even if it means breaking some (minor) laws. It was refreshing to see Seohyun in that kind of role when she really lost her good image of a girl. The transformation impressed viewers and only showed her maturity as an actress. I look forward to seeing her in roles like this one!
6th Ong Seong Wu
Ong Seong Wu has only appeared in two K-dramas and one film, but his acting career looks promising. Ong Seong Wu was recognized for his acting skills in a short film and his debut role in “Moments from 18“Just solidified the fact that he has natural talent. Last year he starred in More Than Friends as Lee Soo, a boy who has loved the same woman since high school. 10 years later the two meet again and Lee Soo is still in love with them. The love and affection this character shows for the girl he loves is immense, and Ong Seong Wu was able to portray it perfectly.

Kwon Nara was originally part of the girls group Hello Venus, but after they split up last year, she has devoted herself fully to acting. Kwon Nara as Oh Soo Ah in the “Itaewon Class” put the audience on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, as she could convey sympathy, anger, remorse and joy for her character. The complexity of her character couldn’t have been easy to depict, but Kwon Nara showed her wide range of emotions so easily!
8th. Lee Jin Hyuk
This was a big year for Lee Jin Hyuk as he made his debut in the K-drama world through the MBC series. “Find me in your memory. “He played the romantic and uncomplicated Jo Il Kwon, who he fell head over heels in love with Kim Seul Gi. The role of Il Kwon suited him perfectly and it was almost impossible to tell that it was his debut. Kim Myung Soo (L) played in “Miau, the secret boy“As Hong Jo, a cat who becomes human when he is with the woman he loves. The premise is unique. How should someone act like a cat? But Myung Soo was able to overcome this and really prove that he is can accept any challenge when it comes to acting. He made the audience sympathize and have compassion for his character who is so alone in the world. Myung Soo’s talent in this particular drama lies in his innocent but loving gaze as well as in the Spark of jealousy he gets when the woman he loves talks to other men. And seeing him in that cozy knit sweater throughout the series is a big bonus. It really makes you want to cuddle with him, to keep warm!
