When it comes time for an actor to enroll in the military, fans tend to come up with a variety of responses. Sometimes it is disappointment, sadness, grief, or even pride that your favorite actor is serving your country. At the time of recruiting, it seems like you will never see them again, but the truth is, time is passing and actors are returning from the military to take on new projects. Here are 10 actors and the K-dramas that marked their return from the military.

1. “The King: Eternal Monarch” – Lee Min Ho
Lee Min Ho began his military service tour on May 12, 2017 at the height of his career. “The legend of the blue seaWas his last project before signing up. He was released on April 25, 2019. Shortly thereafter, it was announced that Lee Min Ho had agreed to star in Kim Eun Sook’s new fantasy K-drama “The King: Eternal Monarch”. This was Lee Min Ho’s second project with Kim Eun Sook.
In “The King: Eternal Monarch”, Lee Min plays Ho Lee Gon, the leader of a parallel world in which there is also a country like Korea. He’s trying to find a mysterious girl named Jung Tae Eul (Kim Go Eun) who he thinks he is with. After accidentally running into the parallel world on his horse in the forest, he meets Jung Tae Eul. The two begin a passionate romance that is constantly tested as they are torn between time and space.
2. “Hwayugi”- Lee Seung Gi
Lee Seung Gi was also in the prime of his career as he signed up, hosted variety shows, starred in K-dramas, and continued to release songs. He joined the military on February 1, 2016 and was released on October 31, 2017. During his time in the military, Lee Seung Gi received a lot of praise as he was even made a member of the special forces. After his release, his first project was to star in the Hong Sisters TVN drama “Hwayugi”.

Song Joong Ki joined the military on August 27, 2013 while he was very popular due to his starring role in the hit melodrama. “The innocent man“And the movie”A werewolf boy. “He had also gained a lot of popularity in the hit variety show”Running ManThe fans were obviously torn when it was time for him to join the army.
He was discharged from the military on May 26, 2015, and directed straight for Kim Eun Sook’s next highly anticipated project, Descendants of the Sun.
Song Joong Ki was offered the role of Yoo Shi Jin while he was still in the military. It wasn’t long before he accepted the offer. Joo Won’s character Park Jin Gyum is a detective who doesn’t let his feelings get in the way of his work. While working on a case, he sees that there are people who are traveling back in time from the future. He meets Tae Yi (Kim Hee Sun), who is from the future, and the two realize that their meeting is fate.

5. “Private life” – Go Kyung Pyo
Go Kyung Pyo joined the military on May 21, 2018 and was released on January 15, 2020. Go Kyung Pyo gained steady advancement before joining the army, especially on projects like “Answer 1988, “”Incarnated jealousy,” and “Chicago typewriter. “His absence from the entertainment industry was palpable.
When Go Kyung Pyo announced that he had played Lee Jeong Hwan on JTBC’s “Private Lives” SeohyunIt was exciting to have him back. “Private Lives” is about Lee Jeong Hwan (Go Kyung Pyo), a team manager at a large company. Although it looks like he’s leading a normal life, he’s hiding a secret. He meets Cha Joo Eun (Seohyun) who, despite her cute graphics, is a scam. The two team up to defeat a vast conglomerate.
6. “Witch’s Mirror”- Yoon Shi Yoon
Yoon Shi Yoon began his military service on April 28, 2014 and was released on January 27, 2016. He joined the Marines, which is rare for a celebrity because he was afraid of water and wanted to overcome that fear. We can definitely appreciate his bravery!
Yoon Shi Yoon got to work as soon as he left the army. He also played in “Mirror of the Witch” Kim Sae Ron. Yoon Shi Yoon plays a scholar named Heo Jun who meets Yeon Hee (Kim Sae Ron), a princess isolated from the kingdom and kept secret due to a curse. Heo Jun tries to help the princess return to her rightful place.

7. “It’s okay to be not okay” – Kim Soo Hyun
Kim Soo Hyun joined the military on October 23, 2017 after his role in “Real”. He was released on July 1, 2019.
Kim Soo Hyun was excited about choosing his first drama project after he was discharged from the military. Expectations were even higher as he has been in “The producers. “People were excited to hear that Kim Soo Hyun would be in” It’s Okay To Be Wrong “and that his opposite number would be Seo Ye Ji.
8. “When the camellia blooms” – Kang Ha Neul
Much to the sadness of his fans, Kang Ha Neul joined the army on September 11, 2017 and was released on May 23, 2019. Although his recruitment was devastating, some of his films were released while he was in the military making it a little less painful. These films included the psychological thriller “Forgotten” and the fantasy film “I Have a Date with Spring”.
Talk about a strong comeback in Dramaland! When the Camellia Blooms was Kang Ha Neul’s first drama after his military service. He won several awards for this role, including best actor at the Baeksang Arts Awards and the KBS Drama Awards. It was his first time getting one of these recognitions, so it was quite a big deal for Kang Ha Neul!
Jo In Sung made his debut in 2000, which makes him a veteran in the acting industry. It didn’t take long for him to become famous, and every work he was involved in has been quite successful. Jo In Sung’s last project before his conscription on April 6, 2009 was the critically acclaimed film “A frozen flower. ”
Jo In Sung is known to be very picky about the roles he picks. So when he chooses a project, you can be confident that it will be good. When he was released from the military on May 4, 2011, it took him another two years to decide on a project. The drama he went for was “That Winter, The Wind Blows,” in which he played the cheater Oh Soo alongside Song Hye Kyo.

10. “Melt me gently”- Ji Chang Wook
Ji Chang Wook joined the military on August 14, 2017. He practically worked until the day he joined the army. When he was released on April 27, 2019, he immediately took on the role of Ma Dong Chan in “Melting Me Softly”. He’s been bringing out dramas since then and there doesn’t seem to be any signs of slowing down!
